Boston 25 News reporter Drew Karedes leaves after nine years

The North Shore native announced his departure on social media Tuesday.

Boston 25 News reporter Drew Karedes is departing from the station after nine years, he announced on social media Tuesday.

Karedes joined Boston 25 News as a general assignment reporter in March 2017.

“Through the years, I have never lost sight of my purpose as a reporter,” he said in a post shared on Instagram and Facebook. “The privilege of connecting with real people from all walks of life has truly been an honor.”

A North Shore native, Karedes lived in several areas of the country before returning to Boston to report. He began his reporting career 19 years ago in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he shared in his social media posts.

“I will forever be grateful for the role that allowed me to return to Massachusetts after years of criss crossing the country,” he said.

During his tenure at Boston 25 News, Karedes covered a wide range of stories, including local crime, traffic crashes, and general news events. He reported on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrest in Lynn last summer and documented community concerns over safety and quality‑of‑life issues in downtown Boston.

“While much has changed, the importance of local journalism has not,” he concluded his posts. “Thank you to everyone who trusted me and allowed me to tell their stories. Stay tuned for what’s next.”
