A total of 12 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes on an Interstate 95 ramp in Danvers Wednesday morning, police said.
Troopers from the Danvers Barracks responded to a report of a multi-vehicle crash on the ramp from I-95 North to Route 1 North at Exit 70, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police.
Police said there were three separate crashes on the ramp, involving 12 vehicles in total.
Three adults were treated for back injuries, and all were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation, according to MSP. Police did not specify the condition of the other drivers or passengers.
State police said icy conditions on the ramp caused the crashes.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation was notified and sent personnel to treat the roadway and ramp, police said. The ramp and surrounding lanes were subsequently reopened Wednesday morning.
