Fall River police are looking for a man accused of shooting and killing a dog at a housing development in early February, the department said in a statement.
Kyron Simmons, 36, is charged with home invasion, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building, killing, maiming, or poisoning an animal, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and reckless endangerment of a child, police said in a Facebook post.
On Feb. 3, police were called to Sunset Hill Housing Development, the Fall River Police Department said.
After officers made contact with the caller, police noticed fresh blood on the floor and found a yellow Labrador retriever suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
The dog was taken to an emergency animal hospital, where it died from its injuries, officials said.
While during an initial investigation, officers identified Simmons as a suspect in the shooting, police said.
A follow up investigation by detectives — through security camera footage, interviews, and collected evidence — confirmed Simmons as the suspect in the shooting and other related offenses, Fall River police said.
Fall River police did not say why Simmons allegedly shot the dog.
Police also executed a search warrant at the Father Defario Village Housing where Simmons was living and found firearm accessories, the department said.
Fall River police have issued an arrest warrant for Simmons, who is believed to be armed and dangerous, police said.
Anyone with information regarding Simmon’s whereabouts should contact the authorities, urged Fall River police.
