A maintenance worker damaged a pressurized sprinkler line above the exterior concourse at South Station on Thursday, causing water to fall into the newly renovated concourse, according to the MBTA.

The MBTA said it immediately isolated and addressed the incident, and finished the cleanup by the end of the day Thursday.

The contractor was working for Hines Development, the owner and developer of the recently opened 51-story South Station tower, which sits above the transit hub.

The incident did not disrupt any train service.
