Mass. woman killed while sunbathing after car drives into residential pool area in Florida

Florida authorities said a preliminary investigation indicates that the driver may have suffered from a "medical episode" at the time of the crash.

A Massachusetts woman was killed Saturday in Fort Pierce, Florida, when a Jeep crashed through her residential pool area while she was sunbathing, authorities said.

At approximately 2:10 p.m. on Feb. 7, the Fort Pierce Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the 1600 block of Laurel Leaf Lane, according to a statement from the department.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 38-year-old woman, had gone off the roadway, crashed through hedges and fencing, and entered a residential pool area, according to police reports. The Jeep struck 65-year-old Anastasia Fiona Ullman while she was sunbathing, police said.
