A Westborough couple was arrested Tuesday following a prostitution investigation of their massage parlor, Westborough police said.
Michael Langille, the owner of Westborough Wellness Spa, and Leir Guo, the manager, were arrested by Westborough police on Feb. 10.
The couple faces charges of keeping a house of prostitution, procuring a person to practice prostitution, and deriving support from prostitution.
Langille was arraigned Tuesday and pleaded not guilty, court records show. He was held on $250,000 bail. Court records for Guo were not immediately available Wednesday evening.
An attorney for Langille did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday evening.
According to a statement of facts filed by police in court, an investigation of the spa was opened in December 2024 after a man died from a cardiac arrest at the spa.
“The male was found to be nude, which was unusual under the circumstances,” police wrote.
One of the employees ran out of the building when the man collapsed, the statement of facts said.
During an initial investigation, the Westborough Police Department, the Westborough Board of Health, and the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Licensure found that the spa did not have the required permits to give body massages, the statement of facts said.
A detective who specializes in prostitution advertisements discovered “numerous online advertisements indicating that sexual services were being offered at Westborough Wellness Spa,” said the statement of facts.
While in the spa, the detective called the number on one of the advertisements and the spa’s phone rang, police wrote.
Westborough District Court granted police a search warrant to use a pole camera to monitor the spa, the statement of facts said.
Police were then able to identify 13 clients, 12 of whom were male and one female. Eight agreed to speak to Westborough police, the statement of facts said.
Six of the clients told police that they were offered sexual services, and three of them said they received a “hand job” from their masseuse, said the statement of facts.
The female client said she heard noise coming from the massage room above her, which led her to believe the business was offering sexual services, police said.
Police noticed two young women who were later identified as the ones providing the sexual services. The women were rarely seen outside of the business, which lead police to conclude that the women were living there.
The two young women were allegedly not being paid by the couple for their services and were seen handing payment to either Langille or Guo, the statement of facts said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
“Your technicians at Westborough Wellness Spa is customized to relax and peace your body and mind, whose technique will be uniquely tailored to fit your inner body,” the spa’s website says.
The massage spa has four Google reviews, all which are five stars.
“Immediately impressed during initial entry. I have been here three times. The place is clean, new, and updated. I appreciate the professional massage 💆♂️ that really helped me relax and took care of my stress knots. They have gained a loyal customer. Thank you 😊!,” one reviewer wrote.
Homeland Security Investigations, State Police, and the Worcester County District Attorney’s office contributed to the case, police said.
