A high-end supermarket, Sprouts Farmers Market, and the drive-thru coffee shop 7 Brew will soon debut in Weymouth after the site’s developers won key approvals from the town last month.

The businesses will take over a vacant Honda dealership at the corner of Front, Main, and Winter streets.

The project on the approximately 90,000-square-foot lot was approved by both the Weymouth Board of Zoning Appeals and the Conservation Commission in January, according to the town’s principal planner, Eric Schneider.

Schneider added that since Route 18, also known as Main Street, is a state road, the proposed traffic improvements will need to be reviewed by MassDOT.

He said he expects the developers to start construction this spring.

Once open, it will be Sprouts first location in New England, and 7 Brew’s second. The coffee chain already has a kiosk in Springfield.

Sprouts Farmers Market is a speciality retailer offering products including organic, gluten-free, plant-based, and non-GMO items. Headquartered in Phoenix, Sprouts employs about 35,000 people and operates more than 450 stores in 25 states nationwide.

Headquartered in Fayetteville, Arkansas, 7 Brew Coffee is a growing company with over 600 locations nationwide in 38 states.

Neither company returned a request for additional comment.

The stores will be minutes away by car from two Dunkin’ locations, a Shaw’s, a BJ’s, and a Stop & Shop.

At the Zoning Appeals hearing, board members voiced concerns about whether the coffee drive-thru will survive.

“I’d hate to see it vandalized and go unkept,” said Vice-Chair Jonathan Moriarty, who has seen other small coffee shops sit empty and become eyesores.

But he and other board members conceded that, under the conditions set to approve the project, the developers will work to maintain it.

“The community needs another grocery store in that particular area,” Moriarty said. “The community wants another grocery store in that particular area.”
