A suspect is charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a Fall River mother and son, prosecutors announced Sunday.
Arlington Cole, 54, faces two counts of murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after the fatal shooting of Nicholas Almedia, 25, and Elizabeth Almeida, 54, the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a press release.
Friday night, Fall River police received reports of a double shooting on Barnes Street, Quinn’s office said. When police arrived, they found Elizabeth and Nicholas Almedia suffering from gunshot wounds, the DA said. Both were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Quinn’s office said.
Police found Cole on scene, prosecutors allege. Cole was in a dating relationship with Elizabeth Almedia, the DA said.
Cole is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, Quinn’s office said.
