A minivan was struck by a MBTA commuter rail train in Belmont early Monday morning, the MBTA Transit Police said.
The minivan was stuck on the train tracks as the train approached, striking the van and its two passengers, police said.
The driver and passenger had to be extricated from the minivan, the transit police said.
Both victims were sent to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, Transit Police said.
Transit Police will conduct a follow up investigation, the department said.
