Two Mass. daycare employees were arraigned on Friday in connection to a child abuse investigation, Medway police said.
Anthony Barron, 27, and Caleigh Kent, 25, were charged in Wrentham District Court after police were notified about potential child abuse at BrightPath Child Care Center in Medway, Chief of Medway Police William Kingsbury said in a press release from the department.
“Upon notification of the allegations, BrightPath Child Care Center management was fully cooperative with investigators,” said Medway police.
Surveillance footage showed Barron and Kent allegedly committing “assaultive behavior,” police said.
“Investigations involving very young children present unique challenges, as juvenile victims of this age are often unable to verbally report or fully articulate what occurred. In this case, video surveillance played an important role in the investigation,” the department said.
Barron and Kent were fired by the daycare and were arrested on Jan. 23, said police.
The daycare has 11 locations in the Boston area according to its website.
Barron faces four counts of assault and battery on a child under 14 causing bodily injury, two counts of reckless endangerment of a child under 18, two counts of failure to report child abuse and neglect as a mandated reporter, police said.
Kent is charged with two counts of assault and battery on a child under 14 causing bodily injury, one count of reckless endangerment of a child under 18, and two counts of failure to report child abuse neglect as a mandated reporter, police said.
Attorneys for Barron and Kent did not immediately respond to requests for comment Sunday evening.
Due to the age of the victims no other information will be released, the department said.
