A new national draw game, called Millionaire for Life, is launching next month in Massachusetts and 30 other jurisdictions, giving players a chance to win the $1 million-a-year-for-life jackpot every day.

The Massachusetts State Lottery said daily drawings will begin on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 11:15 p.m., with odds of 1 in 22.9 million to win the grand prize and 1 in 8.47 overall.

The game will have a grand prize of $1 million a year for life, and a second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life.

Both the grand prize and second-tier prize will be awarded as annuities, with a 20-year guaranteed payout to your beneficiaries if you die prior to that. Players will also have the option to choose a one-time cash payout for the top two prize levels.

The Millionaire for Life tickets will go for $5 per play.

“Millionaire for Life offers premier ‘for-life’ prizing that players, especially younger players, have gravitated toward,” said Tom Seaver, Millionaire for Life Product Group Chair and Senior Director of the Colorado Lottery, in a statement.

“Imagine winning $1 million a year, year after year — this game is designed to deliver on its name,” he continued.

The Massachusetts State Lottery said players will select five numbers from 1 to 58, plus one Millionaire Ball between 1 and 5.

There are nine ways to win, with additional prizes ranging from $8 to $7,500, depending on which numbers the player matches.

The new game will replace Lucky for Life, with the game’s final drawing taking place on Saturday, Feb. 21. That game launched in Massachusetts and five surrounding New England states in March of 2012. About 20 lotteries offer the game.

Massachusetts players will have one year from the date of a drawing to claim remaining Lucky for Life prizes.
