The body of an unidentified woman was recovered on Thursday in Newbury, after police responded to a call about a body in the water near Harvard Way, the district attorney said.
The call came in just before noon on Jan. 15, the office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said in a press release.
Newbury police, Newburyport Fire and Rescue, the Coast Guard, the Salisbury Police Department drone unit, and the State Police air wing unit all responded, the DA said.
The Newburyport Fire Department recovered the body of a woman from the water north of Fordham Way, the DA said, which is near Newbury Beach. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of her death, Tucker’s office said.
Newbury police and State Police are investigating the incident, the DA said.
