The popular Massachusetts-based supermarket chain Big Y is expanding the brand with four new locations statewide.
The chain announced earlier this month that two new stores are coming to eastern Massachusetts next year, it said in a press release. One will open in Pembroke at 24 Mattakeesett St., replacing a Stop & Shop, and another will open in Saugus at 357 Broadway, replacing an Amazon Fresh store.
Both locations are expected to be open in spring to summer of 2026, according to the release. The chain previously announced last month that two more stores will open in southeastern Massachusetts.
These locations will open in Fairhaven at 7-9 Plaza Way, replacing a Big Lots, and in North Dartmouth on Faunce Corner Road, replacing a Christmas Tree Shops. The Fairhaven and North Dartmouth stores are not expected to open until spring to summer of 2027.
“These four new stores represent a significant milestone in Big Y’s ongoing expansion into new towns throughout Massachusetts,” Michael D’Amour, Big Y’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “With new locations in Pembroke, Saugus, Fairhaven and North Dartmouth, we’re excited to become a part of new communities that we can serve and create welcoming spaces where customers feel at home.”
The brand confirmed that they will share more details about hiring and grand opening events in the coming months.
