New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was getting into the holiday spirit at a local farm this past weekend.
Last Saturday, Maye and his wife, Ann Michael, visited Bean Family Farm in Westwood to pick out a Christmas tree. The couple chose a 10-foot tree — perfect for Maye, who wears the No. 10 jersey on the field.
“It’s great that he’s supporting another local business in what is now his hometown,” Chris Bean, owner of Bean Farm, told 7News. “They’ve driven by the farm quite a few times and they knew they wanted to come here and get their Christmas tree. They picked out a beautiful 10-foot tree and we took care of it. I gave it to him on the house as a nice welcome gift to our town of Westwood.”
The Bean family has been farming since 1652, making Chris Bean the 14th generation to run the operation, according to The Boston Globe. The farm is currently in a dispute with the Westwood Land Trust over expansion plans; the 10-acre property is too small to generate enough income to be financially viable, according to the article.
“A really nice couple. We talked a bit. He’s a really nice guy,” Bean told the Globe about Maye.
Along with Christmas trees, the Bean Family Farm sells a variety of products, including produce, pumpkins, beef, pork, and feed.
