The Newburyport police and fire departments are searching for a missing person in the Merrimack River.
Around 8 a.m. Wednesday, emergency personnel received reports of a person in the river, police say. Witnesses said that the person had been clinging to the side of a small skiff boat.
Emergency personnel located the skiff boat and are continuing to search for the person. Massachusetts State Police, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other departments are assisting, police say.
