One worker was killed and two were rescued following a trench collapse in South Yarmouth on Tuesday morning, according to The Boston Globe.
The collapse happened at a work site at 152 South Shore Drive near the Skipper Chowder House, according to Yarmouth police.
One worker was extricated from the trench and was receiving life-saving measures around 11 a.m., police said on Facebook.
The second surviving worker was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via helicopter in the afternoon, the Globe reports.
Around 2 p.m., Yarmouth Fire Chief Enrique Arrascue confirmed one worker had died and was still inside the trench, according to the Globe.
Yarmouth police asked the public to avoid the area. Emergency personnel are continuing to work on recovering the deceased victim, which is expected to take several hours, according to NBC10 Boston.
