A search is ongoing for a missing Bentley University professor in Maine.

Wiley Davi, 57, who lives on Peaks Island, was last known to be on the island, which is off the coast of Portland, on Saturday evening, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Davi has gray hair and is about 5-foot-7 and 155 pounds, officials said. It is unknown what Davi was last wearing.

On Monday morning, the department asked the public to stay off the walking trails of Peaks Island as to not interfere with the search for Davi. “Residents are also encouraged to check any sheds or outbuildings on their property for Davi,” the department said.

The Maine Marine Patrol searched the waters along the island as well.

Davi is a professor of English and Media Studies at Bentley in Waltham.

“Wiley is a longtime and respected professor and a friend to students, faculty and staff on our campus,” a university spokesperson told The Boston Globe. “Our hearts and minds are with Wiley, their loved ones, and the first responders who are leading the search, and we are hoping and praying for Wiley’s safe return.”

Anyone with information regarding Davi’s whereabouts is encouraged to call Portland police at 207-874-8479.
