A motorcyclist was in critical condition after a crash in Tewksbury on Friday night.
Tewksbury police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash in the residential neighborhood near Brook Street and Janet Avenue around 9:05 p.m., according to a department release.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Dracut man, lying unconscious on the ground in the woods off the roadway.
The man, whose name has not been released, had sustained serious injuries, including an apparent head injury, police said.
The Tewksbury Fire Department transported the victim to the Elks Lodge property at 777 South St. where he was then airlifted to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.
He remained in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
