Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred in Beverly this week.
Beverly police responded to a home on Colonial Drive at about 9:40 p.m. Monday, according to a joint release from the the department and the Essex District Attorney’s office.
A man and a woman with apparent gunshot wounds were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials did not identify the people that died, saying that their next of kin still needed to be notified as of Tuesday.
The incident is “being viewed by investigators as an apparent murder-suicide,” officials said.
Beverly police, State Police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating the deaths. There is no threat to the general public, officials said.
