The Cambridge Fire Department rescued a small dog that reportedly got stuck in an escalator on Saturday.

The department responded to a report of a dog with its hind legs stuck in an escalator at Harvard station shortly before 11 p.m.

After helping it from the escalator, firefighters transported the dog and its owner to a veterinary clinic via ambulance. The dog had injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the fire department said.

One firefighter was “accidentally bitten” by the dog during the rescue, the department reported.

Fire officials described escalators are “unforgiving” and reminded the public to use caution, especially with children and pets.
