A 14-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Beverly over the weekend, according to Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office.
The teen was arraigned Tuesday in Salem Juvenile Court. He faces charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, officials said in a release.
The suspect’s name was not released, and officials said that no further information about them would be provided to the public because they are a juvenile.
Beverly police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Simon Street on Saturday at 7:17 p.m., the department said in a statement.
They found one person suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was brought to a hospital via helicopter. The extent of their injuries was unclear. The victim’s name was not released.
The incident appeared to be isolated, police officials said. Beverly police and State Police detectives are continuing to investigate.
