With Halloween right around the corner, Bostonians are on the hunt for the perfect costume. According to Google Trends’ 2025 Frightgeist data, this year’s top searches are all about the biggest pop culture phenomenons of the year — from “KPop Demon Hunters” to Labubus. Google’s Frightgeist site breaks down trending costumes by category, including overall costume, kid costume, dog costume, duo costume, makeup, and Halloween decor.

Using the Frightgeist map, here’s what’s topping the list this Halloween in the Boston area.

In Minecraft, the “Chicken Jockey” — small animals perched on chickens — has become a fan-favorite trend. This year’s costume version lets people bring the look to life by riding the chicken themselves.

5. Captain America

Captain America remains one of America’s most beloved superheroes, so its no surprise he made the list. Bostonians may feel an extra connection to the costume — as Chris Evans, who plays the hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a local himself.
