Bolton’s police chief died suddenly on Sunday, according to the town.
Luke Hamburger joined the Bolton police force in 2005 and became chief in July 2024.
“For the past two decades, Chief Hamburger served our community with dedication, professionalism, and integrity. As a leader, he combined warmth with strength, and his commitment to community policing and public safety made our town a better place,” Bolton Town Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
Hamburger first became a police officer in Shrewsbury in 2003 before joining the force in Bolton in 2005 and attending the police academy in 2006. He was a patrol officer until 2012 when he was named sergeant and then became a lieutenant in 2016, according to The Bolton Independent.
“He was a lovely person whose presence brought out the best in those around him. His loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him, and his imprint on our town will remain for years to come,” the town’s post said.
Hamburger’s cause of death and funeral service information have not yet been released.
