A pedestrian was struck and killed on Monday morning in Boston’s South End neighborhood, police say. The vehicle involved was a Boston University shuttle bus, according to NBC10 Boston.
Boston police received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the area of the BU Medical Campus at 744 Albany St. around 7:58 a.m.
Officers found that the pedestrian was trapped beneath the bus, and they were later pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if the bus was carrying any passengers.
Albany Street between Northampton Street and Massachusetts Avenue was closed in both directions, and the Massachusetts Avenue Connector was closed inbound toward Boston Medical Center.
The bus driver was placed on leave by the shuttle bus company, Academy Express, depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
“At approximately 7:55 am today (10.6.25) a shuttle bus operated by Academy Express, LLC., under contract with Boston University was involved in an incident at the intersection of Albany Street and Massachusetts Avenue. As a result of this incident, a pedestrian was struck and sustained fatal injuries.
Boston Police are leading an investigation into the incident with the assistance and cooperation of Academy Express. The driver of the shuttle has been removed from all scheduled duties pending the outcome of the investigation.”
