A driver drove up onto a sidewalk in Mansfield on Thursday morning, striking two pedestrians and seriously injuring them, according to police.
Mansfield Police Chief Ronald Sellon reports that at 9:47 a.m., the Mansfield police and fire departments responded to 108 Oakland St. for a reported crash involving two pedestrians, a man and a woman.
A preliminary investigation showed that a driver in a white 2012 Honda Accord drove up onto the sidewalk, striking them.
Fire department personnel determined that, due to a head injury to the man, he would be transported by Boston MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital. The fire department transported the woman by ambulance to Boston Medical Center – South.
EMS evaluated the driver, but the person did not require further medical attention.
Mansfield police are investigating the cause of the crash.
