A Fall River man will serve five to seven years in state prison for raping a 14-year-old girl who was hitchhiking, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Trevon Hector, 38, will also serve a concurrent sentence of four and half to five years for child porn possession, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a release.
Hector previously pleaded guilty to counts of raping and abusing a child and possessing child pornography, prosecutors said.
In August 2023, the victim ran away from a group home in Fall River and attempted to hitchhike to visit her biological mother in Brockton, the release said.
Hector, who was 36 at the time, agreed to give the victim a ride. The girl told Hector she was 18 years old, according to prosecutors.
Hector took the girl to Riverview Inn & Suites in Somerset, where the two spent the night. Hector was accused of giving the teenager approximately five drinks, which she believed to be alcohol mixed with orange juice, the release said.
“The victim reported feeling intoxicated, could not move, could not see straight, and kept falling asleep. However, the defendant had sexual intercourse with her numerous times throughout the evening,” the release said.
The next morning, the girl woke up alone and called the police. Hector admitted to officers that he had spent the night with her, according to prosecutors.
At the police station, Hector told a detective that “in the eyes of the law, he had done something wrong,” the release said.
A search warrant of Hector’s phone found three photos of the girl with her breasts exposed, prosecutors said.
Detectives found “used condoms, condom wrappers, and an empty bottle of male performance liquid” in the hotel room, according to the release.
Hector’s DNA was a positive match to evidence collected from the girl for a rape kit, prosecutors said.
“The defendant plied the victim with alcohol and then sexually assaulted her. I am pleased that the defendant pled guilty and accepted responsibility without the victim having to testify,” Quinn said.
