Mass. hiker, 74, rescued from N.H. trail
The Sandwich man was experiencing severe cramping two miles from the trailhead.
A man from Sandwich, Massachusetts, was rescued from a hiking trail on South Moat Mountain in New Hampshire on Friday.
Around 4 p.m., N.H. Fish and Game received a report of a hiker experiencing severe cramps in his arms and legs approximately two miles from the trailhead.
The man was hiking with a friend when the cramps started. After an hour of attempting to rehydrate, his friend called 911 as the cramping persisted, according to N.H. Fish and Game.
Lakes Region Search and Rescue responded alongside a conservation officer and a bystander.
The rescue team placed the man in a litter rescue basket and carried him down the trail. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway via ambulance around 9 p.m., according to N.H. Fish and Game.
