The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

An early morning crash in Boston’s South End on Friday seriously injured two police officers, according to the Boston Police Department.

Police say two officers were involved in a motor vehicle crash at around 4:02 a.m. in the area of East Berkeley Street and Washington Street.

The two officers sustained serious injuries that were not life-threatening. EMS transported them to a local hospital for treatment.

A third person, who was operating a second car involved in the crash, also sustained injuries. EMS transported that person to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

Police say the crash remains under active investigation and provided no further information.
