Boston to offer free COVID and flu vaccines at more than a dozen locations
All of the clinics will provide free flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, and some will offer routine vaccinations for children five and older.
The Boston Public Health Commission is partnering with several community organizations to provide free vaccine clinics around the city, the commission announced Wednesday.
BPHC teamed up with Boston Public Schools, Boston Centers for Youth & Families, and community organizations to launch the clinics in late September before the climax of the respiratory virus season, the commission said in a press release.
All of the clinics will provide free flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, and some will also offer routine childhood vaccinations for children five and older, according to BPHC.
Residents do not need an appointment and providing insurance and identification is not required. However, those with a health insurance card should bring it with them, the release said.

Additionally, residents interested in their child receiving routine vaccinations — including hepatitis A and B, meningococcal, varicella, polio, and MMR protecting against measles, mumps, and rubella — should bring their child’s vaccination records, BPHC said.
“Vaccination remains the safest and most effective strategy to reduce the risk of respiratory illnesses like COVID-19 and the flu. By hosting free vaccine clinics throughout Boston, we are ensuring that vaccines are accessible to all residents,” said Commissioner of Public Health Dr. Bisola Ojikutu.

The launch of free vaccine clinics in Boston follows Governor Maura Healey’s aim to protect vaccine access in Massachusetts amid vaccine restrictions across the country.
“Massachusetts has the best health care in the world,” Healey said Sept. 4. “We won’t let Donald Trump and Robert Kennedy get between patients and their doctors. When the federal government fails to protect public health, Massachusetts will step up.”
