Auburn police continued their search Wednesday for a man who has been missing since last week.
Police warned residents to avoid areas in town with a large police presence as they searched for Darren Cyr, 58, of Auburn, who was last seen Sept. 12, according to a Facebook post.
Detectives temporarily suspended the search Tuesday evening after looking for Cyr earlier that day near Mill Street and the surrounding area, police said on Facebook. Police asked the public not to attempt to search on their own but said that they had deployed K9 units, drones, and a State Police helicopter for assistance.
Police also shared that they had seen several false reports stating that Cyr had been found but confirmed that the search is still ongoing.
“Please ignore any comments here stating he is found as they are untrue, and honestly, unhelpful,” police said on Facebook. “Thank you to those who offered to help search- every resource we have is and will be utilized.”
Anyone with information about Cyr’s whereabouts is asked to contact Auburn police at 508-832-7777.
