A popular Gloucester bar was ransacked over the weekend, prompting an $1,000 reward offer for information leading to an arrest, according to the owner’s Facebook post Sunday.
The Rhumb Line Bar & Restaurant was “trashed” and stolen from early Sunday morning between 2:30 a.m. and 6 a.m., owner Frank Shrigley said on Facebook.
The thief stole a few bottles of scotch and a “big bottle” of Johnny Walker Black, Shrigley said.
“It’s a sad day in the neighborhood when someone breaks into the Rhumb Line and steals booze and trashes the place,” Shrigley posted. “I’m offering a $1000+ reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who are responsible for this.”
The restaurant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The post elicited a large response from the Gloucester community, with many expressing sympathy toward Shrigley and outrage about the incident.
“I am so sorry that happened Fred! That is crazy and pathetic! The Rhumb Line is like Gloucester’s “Cheers!” someone commented on Shrigley’s post.
“So sorry to hear this!! Wish I was there to help. Who would do such a thing?!?! Keep us posted.” another person commented.
