The younger daughter of a Worcester mother detained by federal immigration officials during a chaotic arrest earlier this year has been found, police say.

The 13-year-old daughter of Rosane Ferreira De Oliveira, of Brazil, was reported missing in July alongside her 17-year-old sister, who was arrested by Worcester police during the confrontation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The 13-year-old “was found safe in Massachusetts last week,” a spokesperson for Worcester police told Boston.com. “She is currently back in DCF custody.”

Her older sister is still missing from DCF custody, the spokesperson said.

When contacted, DCF declined to provide any information about either teen.

Ferreira De Oliveira is currently in federal custody in New Hampshire, according to ICE’s inmate tracker, after her arrest in May. She was reportedly lured outside her home by agents who used her grandchild as “bait” before neighbors surrounded ICE agents.

Nayara Ferreira De Moura of Worcester, missing since July 20, 2025.

Nayara Ferreira De Moura, the missing 17-year-old, was one of Ferreira De Oliveira’s daughters present when she was detained by ICE agents on Eureka Street.

A spokesperson for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children confirmed Nayara’s younger sister was found Aug. 23, but Nayara remains missing. She was last seen in early June in Lancaster, according to the center. Lawyer Andrew Lattrulo previously told MassLive that Nayara is with an older sister in Brazil.

In May, Worcester neighbors including City Councilor Etel Haxhiaj flocked to the scene of Ferreira de Oliveira’s arrest, with people reportedly forming a “human ring” around the mother and children. The daughters tried to stand in front of the ICE vehicle holding their mother to stop the agents from leaving, according to body camera footage.

Haxhiaj was charged with assault weeks after the confrontation. She pleaded not guilty with a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a police officer and interfering with a police officer. The arrests prompted thousands to gather during multiple demonstrations across the city, and dozens of Worcester residents attended a meeting criticizing city council and police.
