The driver suspected to be at fault was not injured and a third victim was transported to a local hospital.

Three people are in serious condition after a head-on collision in Wellfleet on Tuesday.

Wellfleet Police received a report of the collision on Route 6 near Shepley Wood Products around 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 2.

Police found that a BMW crossover sedan crossed the double yellow lines and struck an Audi traveling eastbound, the department said.

The driver of the Audi, an 18-year-old from Orleans, and his passenger, an 18 from Wellfleet, were airlifted to Boston hospitals in serious condition, according to police.

The passenger of the BMW, a 73-year-old Eastham man, was transported by the Wellfleet Fire Department to Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries, police reported.

The driver of the BMW was identified as Carlos Ibarguen, 60, of Eastham, and was not injured, police say.

Ibarguen was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, and operating a vehicle outside of a license restriction as he was not wearing his glasses, Wellfleet Police say.

Police also submitted a request to suspend Ibarguen’s license to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Police did not release further information about the condition of those injured.
