One person was seriously injured and a dog was killed in a house explosion in Dartmouth early Tuesday, police said.
Dartmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to 20 Sagamore Drive around 12:57 a.m. and reported “heavy fire conditions and explosions from the garage of the house,” the Dartmouth Police Department said.
All residents exited the home before first responders arrived, police said.
One resident who was burned was transported to a Rhode Island hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
At the time of the explosion, three dogs were inside the home, according to police.
“One dog was later determined to be deceased at the scene, another was taken to a veterinarian for emergency treatment, and the third was located Tuesday morning uninjured after initially going missing,” police said.
There is an ongoing investigation by Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad to assess any hazard that could have led to the explosion, according to police.
