A man wanted in connection with the 2020 murder of a toddler found beaten to death in Ohio was arrested Wednesday morning in Framingham, police said.
Dioblis Williams, 25, was arrested by a Framingham Police officer around 8:30 a.m. on a warrant for homicide of a child by the U.S. Marshals Service, Framingham Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The Framingham officer was on his way to attend a briefing to serve a warrant for Williams, who was believed to be in the city. The officer noticed a pair of individuals walking, one wearing a wig, and realized the man wearing the wig was Williams.
“Officers observed the individual and came to the determination that the individual wearing the wig was indeed the male that the USMS and VFAS were intending to arrest,” police said.
Williams was placed in custody and charged with a Massachusetts Straight Warrant and an Ohio Warrant for Murder, according to police.
“Today’s arrest is a reminder that you can run, but you can’t hide. Mr. Williams thought that he could evade arrest and accountability by hiding in Massachusetts,” said Acting U.S. Marshal Kevin W. Neal. “ I hope that today’s arrest brings us one step closer to justice for a young child whose life ended tragically.”
Williams was charged with murder for allegedly beating his girlfriend’s 2-year-old toddler to death. The toddler was found in a bathtub in Columbus, Ohio, according to U.S. Marshals Service.
Williams was charged as a fugitive from justice, someone convicted of a crime who flees their jurisdiction. He will be arraigned in Massachusetts pending his extradition back to Ohio, U.S. Marshals Service said.
