A man who was found dead in a car parked outside South Shore Hospital over the weekend has been identified as a 27-year-old from Maine, authorities announced Monday.

Declan Perry of Portland, Maine was discovered in the backseat of a 2019 black Honda Civic parked in front of the hospital’s emergency room on Saturday afternoon, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

A hospital employee found Perry, wrapped in multiple blankets secured by duct tape, according to the DA.

Weymouth police were contacted around 2:07 p.m., and Perry was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., the DA’s office said.

The cause and manner of the 27-year-old’s death remain under investigation, the DA’s office said. Boston 25 reported that there was a single bullet hole through the car’s front windshield.

“Neighbors who live in a condominium complex along the Driftway in Scituate saw news coverage of the incident and contacted Scituate Police to report that they had seen a man loading a large, heavy blanket into the black Honda civic at their neighbor’s residence earlier Saturday,” the DA’s office said in the statement.

A search warrant has been obtained for the home and several items have already been seized, the DA’s office said.
