A man was hospitalized and another man is unaccounted for after their boat capsized off Salisbury Beach on Saturday, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The boat, a 47-foot vessel named The Great White, overturned around 4 p.m. off Salisbury Beach, which is closed to swimming due to dangerous rip currents.
The U.S. Coast Guard, a local harbormaster, and troopers attempted to rescue the two individuals aboard the boat, State Police said.
First responders rescued one person, who was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to State Police.
A man in his 50s remains missing, State Police said.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Coast Guard told CBS News they had good communication with the two people who were on the boat, but communication was lost shortly after. The two men were wearing life jackets, CBS News reported.
Field patrols remain on land, but rescue and recovery efforts were paused around 7:20 p.m. Saturday due to “adverse” weather, according to State Police.
A broken-off piece of the boat was seen floating in the Merrimack River Sunday morning, WCVB reported.
