Woman shot while walking her dog near Mass. pond
The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Carver Police Department is investigating a report of a woman being shot while walking her dog on Wednesday night.
At around 7:37 p.m., a woman entered the Carver Police Department and reported that she was shot while walking her dog along Sampson Pond.
Police officers noticed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the woman’s leg.
The woman received treatment from EMS at the police station before being transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with non-life threatening injuries, police say.
Carver Police searched the Sampson Pond area, along with the Mass. State Police Air Wing helicopter, the Plymouth K-9 unit, and the Rochester drone unit.
Following a preliminary investigation, police said they believe the shooting was an isolated act and that there is no threat to the public
“We are taking this report very seriously and are devoting all necessary resources to determine exactly what happened,” Reading Police Chief Marc Duphily said. “We ask residents to report any information they believe is relevant to the investigation to our department.”
