A teen from Rehoboth has been missing since last week, police said, and her family said she is three months pregnant.
Kylee Monteiro, 18, was last seen Aug. 7, according to police in Rehoboth, which is nearly 50 miles south of Boston. Monteiro is about 12 weeks pregnant, according to her sister, Kitty Monteiro, who declined to be interviewed for this story.
Monteiro is described as about 6 feet tall, with light brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red tee with the phrase “Get over it” printed on the front, ripped blue jeans, and tan boots, according to Rehoboth police. She may be carrying a white bag with her belongings.
The teen was last seen at her boyfriend’s house and “there (were) some domestic issues involved,” Kitty Monteiro said on Facebook.
Monteiro told a friend that she didn’t “feel safe right now” after an argument with her boyfriend, that friend told WCVB.
“It’s highly unlike her to cut all contact from social media and family,” Kitty Monteiro wrote. “We need to get word out to find any information as soon as possible.”
Faith Monteiro, also Monteiro’s sister, told a local news station that the 18-year-old had been living at a local homeless shelter for pregnant people when she went to her boyfriend’s home to pick up some of her belongings.
“It’s been very difficult. We’re very scared. We hope she’s okay. This is not like her at all. She would never just disappear. The circumstances don’t seem good,” Faith Monteiro told ABC6. “It’s a lot of speculation. We really don’t know what happened.”
The teen recently graduated from Attleboro High School, according to photographs shared by her sisters, including ones of their sister wearing a cap and gown and holding a diploma.
Police searched the reservoir in Rehoboth with a dive team in the County Street area, ABC6 reporters said.
Anyone who has information about Monteiro’s whereabouts are asked to call State Police at 508-972-1041 or Rehoboth police detectives at 508-252-3722, extension 1135.
