Person dies after boat capsizes at South Shore beach

Despite life-saving measures, including CPR, the person did not survive, officials said.

A person died after a boat overturned off of Nantasket Beach on Saturday, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The State Police Marine Unit and the United States Coast Guard responded to Nantasket Beach around noon to investigate a capsized boat. The Hull Police Department and Fire Department searched the shoreline alongside troopers, officials said.

First responders pulled an unresponsive person from the water. Despite life-saving measures, including CPR, the person did not survive, State Police said.

Police did not publicly identify the person who died.

Preliminary information does not indicate any outstanding individuals or vessels, according to State Police and the Coast Guard.

The incident is under investigation by the State Police Plymouth County Detective Unit and Crime Scene Services, officials said.
