Police investigating assaults on popular suburban bike path

The suspect was wearing a respirator-type mask during the incidents, police say.

The Lexington Police Department is seeking the public’s help following two assault and battery incidents on the town’s bike path.

In both incidents, a man behaving erratically tried to grab two teenagers before fleeing the scene when other bike path users approached, according to the police.

The incidents occurred on Sunday and Monday between 5 and 6:30 p.m. on the Minuteman Bikeway near Great Meadows and the Lexington/Arlington town line.

The suspect is reportedly a thin white man who is 30 to 40 years old and approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, blue shorts, a respirator-type mask, and no socks or shoes, police said.
