Dorchester man facing charges in fatal shooting outside Dedham BJ’s

Franci Villar, 23, pleaded not guilty to all charges related to a fatal shooting in a BJ's parking lot last month in Dedham.

A Dorchester man is scheduled to be arraigned Monday for charges related to a fatal shooting last month in Dedham, prosecutors said.

Franci Villar, 23, is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and a firearm violation with a prior violent/drug offense, Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said in a press release. 

Villar pleaded not guilty to all charges, court records show.

Judge Sarah Jubinville ordered Villar held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Friday, according to court records.

Brockton native Jaylani Cole, 20, was found in a BJ’s parking lot in the early morning of June 23 suffering from gunshot wounds and later died from his injuries. Another 20-year-old was also injured.
