4 Boston suburbs land on new list of the country’s wealthiest

Wellesley, Winchester, Lexington, and Needham are all among the top 50 wealthiest suburbs in America, according to the ranking.

Four Boston-area towns were named among the nation’s wealthiest suburbs by GoBanking Rates.

Wellesley, Winchester, Lexington, and Needham all came in among the top 50 wealthiest suburbs in America in the ranking, which was based on average household incomes in American cities and towns with more than 5,000 households, and 2024 typical home values. 

Wellesley ranked 10th on the list with an average household income of about $367,000 and home value of nearly $2 million, according to the list. 

At number 31, Winchester has a typical household income of $283,632 with home values over $1.6 million. 

Also with a standard home value of $1.6 million, Lexington came in 35th with an average household income at $280,000, approximately.

Ranked at 42, Needham’s average household income is at around $267,000, with home value typically totaling over $1.5 million.

All data was up to date as of Jun. 18, 2024, according to GoBanking Rates. Incomes were sourced from the 2022 American Community Survey, and home values from Zillow.
