13 injured after truck slams into Devens building

Thirteen people, including the truck’s driver, were transported to local hospitals with injuries, police said.

Thirteen people were injured Monday morning after a truck smashed into a building in Devens, officials said.

Massachusetts State Police responded to a report of a flatbed truck that crashed into a building at Shriver Job Corps’ campus at approximately 10:30 a.m., according to spokesperson Tim McGuirk. 

Thirteen people, including the truck’s driver, were injured, police said.

Five people were transported by ambulance and two were taken in a “private vehicle” to local hospitals, according to Fire Chief Timothy Kelly. Six others were treated on scene. 

At 10:47 a.m., the Devens Fire Department was dispatched to 270 Jackson Road.

Kelly said the Devens Fire Department requested assistance from surrounding areas to safely “remove the vehicle from the building.”

Personnel from Shirley, Harvard, Lunenburg, and Bolton responded, he said.

Five people were transported by ambulance and two were taken in a “private vehicle” to local hospitals, according to Kelly. Six others were treated on scene.

Shriver Job Corps provides “free career training and education” for low-income 16 to 24-year-olds, according to its website

The crash is undergoing an investigation from State Police, McGuirk said, but preliminary information “does not indicate the crash was intentional.”
