The internet is swooning over a video captured Saturday of a couple getting engaged on the bank of the Charles River in Cambridge.
The video, shared on the account @onlyinbos, has garnered tens of thousands of likes. In the clip, the happy couple kisses passionately, with the man still down on one knee.
According to the page, the video was sent in by Jen Cardarelli, who captured the moment Saturday afternoon while stopped at a red light on Memorial Drive near one of the boathouses.
“I witnessed a proposal and I have no idea who the couple is,” she wrote.
In the comments, people drew quick comparisons of the embrace to iconic, but fictional, romantic moments.
“That’s so Jim and Pam coded,” wrote one viewer, referencing the proposal between the two characters on The Office.
“The Notebook vibes,” wrote another, referring to the kiss between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in the 2004 film.
Cardarelli told The Boston Globe she “freaked out” when she saw the proposal unfolding by the river.
“I screamed, grabbed my cell phone, and started recording them,” she said.
It was her first time witnessing a proposal, she told the newspaper.
“I’ve wanted to see one, which is why I got so excited,” Cardarelli told the Globe. “That was like a storybook or like a fairy tale-type engagement.”
Online, commenters agreed, expressing the hope that the couple will see the video.
“I hope somebody finds them and tags them, this is the sweetest thing ive ever seen in my news feed,” wrote one user.
