Woman charged in fatal stabbing of her mother in NH

Brynn Comtois, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested Monday and charged in the fatal stabbing of her mother in New Hampshire, authorities announced.

Brynn Comtois is charged with one count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing her mother’s death, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office said in a statement.

Seabrook police responded to a 9-1-1 call around 11:18 p.m. on Sunday to the Rockingham Village Apartments, officials said. There, the officers found Cheryl Stoddard, 45, dead with an apparent stab wound.

An arrest warrant was issued for Stoddard’s daughter, Comtois, on Monday and the 24-year-old was arrested.

“The charges against Brynn Comtois are only allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” the AG’s office said.

An autopsy on Stoddard’s remains was scheduled to take place Monday. The investigation into her death is ongoing, the AG’s office said.
