Police investigating possible hate crime in Provincetown after person attacked by 3 men

Provincetown police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

Authorities in Provincetown say they’re investigating what they described as a “possible hate crime” after a person was attacked by three men early Monday morning. 

Provincetown police were alerted to the alleged incident, which took place between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., and was able to speak with the victim Monday afternoon, the department said in a statement.

The man told police he was attacked by three men who got out of a car as he was walking in the east end of Bradford Street. He was evaluated by paramedics when police spoke with him later in the day and did not require hospitalization, the department said.

Provincetown police did not immediately respond to a request for more information about the alleged incident.

“The Provincetown Police Department is taking this report very seriously and has detectives actively investigating the incident,” police said. 

The department said all its officers have been alerted to the incident and “will continue working hard to stay vigilant and keep everyone safe.”
