Police in Palmer are trying to identify the driver of a Tesla Cybertruck who allegedly used pepper spray on a person that gave them a “thumbs down” gesture earlier this week.
The person showed the “thumbs down” to the Cybertruck driver as the driver was exiting the Massachusetts Turnpike just after 11 a.m. Monday, according to the Palmer Police Department. The Cybertruck turned around and entered a Shell gas station on Thorndike Street, police said.
Officials said that “some words were exchanged” before the driver of the Cybertruck used pepper spray on the person that made the gesture.
The Cybertruck driver was described as a white man wearing a ball cap who appeared to be in his 40s. The Cybertruck apparently had a temporary registration plate attached to it, with a black line on the top of the plate, according to police.
Police are asking anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Palmer Police Department.
Teslas became highly politicized earlier this year when billionaire Elon Musk helped the Trump administration drastically slash the federal workforce. In Massachusetts, ongoing protests sprung up at dealerships, vehicles were vandalized, and a charging station was intentionally set on fire.
