A New Hampshire man died early Sunday morning in a snowmobile crash, officials said.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department were notified at 2:14 a.m. of a possible fatal snowmobile crash near 472 Country Road in Mason, according to a statement. The department learned from the initial call that a man had crashed a snowmobile and that CPR was in progress.
At the scene, conservation officers determined that the snowmobile operator, 37-year-old Dejay Ducharme of Mason, went off the roadway at a high rate of speed and hit a tree, the statement said. Ducharme was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.
Conservation officers are investigating the crash but believe alcohol, speed, and the use of a public way contributed to the crash. Ducharme was also not wearing a helmet, officials said.
