Man facing DUI charges after crash that critically injured 11-year-old, killed 11-month-old sisters in NH

A man is facing charges for his connection with a crash in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Thursday that critically injured an 11-year-old girl and killed her 11-month-old sister.

Manchester police initially responded to the area of Lake Avenue and Belmont Street around 4 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Officers then received reports of a motor vehicle crash involving pedestrians on Belmont Street, and additional reports of a second crash at the intersection of Belmont and Hanover streets.

Justin LaClair, 23, of Manchester, was observed walking away from the scene, police said. 

In the first crash, LaClair struck two young sisters, who sustained significant, life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals, according to officials. The Manchester Police Department announced Sunday morning that the 11-month-old passed away due to her injuries at a Boston hospital. Her sister is still in the hospital and being treated for serious injuries.

The victim in the second crash suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

LaClair was arraigned on charges of aggravated driving while under the influence, two counts of reckless conduct, and two counts of conduct after an accident, Boston25 reported. 

The investigation is still active and ongoing, police said, and urged anyone with information about the incidents to call the department at 603-668-8711.
